What Is Beachside Glamping?

Glamping — or glamorous camping — isn’t about tents and discomfort. It’s about an immersive getaway experience without compromise.

Enjoy fresh sea air, panoramic views, cosy interiors and natural light in abundance. Add your own gentle wellness rhythms — whether that’s meditation, movement &mindful eating — and what you have is an intentional space for reset, not just recreation.

For travellers seeking a break from the everyday exhaustion, lingering anxiety and the constant on of urban life, this style of getaway aligns with what modern wellbeing enthusiasts refer to as restorative travel — travel that repairs and regenerates.

Rottnest Island: A Natural Reset Button

I recently visited Rottnest Island while I’m spending some time in Perth. Just a 30-minute ferry ride from Fremantle, Rottnest is well known for its turquoise beaches and bicycle paths. No cars. Simplicity at its best. An environment to explore and enjoy a fun and slower pace for both your days and nights.

It’s this natural rhythm that makes beachside glamping on Rottnest so incredible. You really could be anywhere in the world as you settle into this beautiful location just off Pinky’s Beach.

Discovery Resorts — Rottnest Island have a range of glamping tents to choose from. I enjoyed a nights stay in a Superior Family Tent. It was true luxury, with a kind sized bed, bunk beds and a trundle (sleeping up to 5). Striking a balance between comfort and connection, the tents provide modern amenities paired with the simplicity of outdoor living.

Features of Discovery Resort on Rottnest Island includes:

  • 83 eco-designed tents along Pinky’s Beach

  • Tents include kitchenette, ensuite bathroom and a private deck with table and chairs

  • Boardwalk access to the beach

  • Pinky’s Beach Club for food & drinks

  • Breakfast included

  • 30m pool

The Elements of a True Reset

The fresh salty air, quokkas, sunsets and gentle sounds of nature are truely relaxing. A great reminder that slowing down is very important. Also a good reminder that yes - having no schedules and not being in a rush is so good for the soul. This getaway is the perfect way to replenish and just be.

Why It Works Against Burnout

Burnout often presents as emotional exhaustion, irritability, lack of focus and disconnected living. The solutions are surprisingly simple but rarely experienced in everyday life:

  • Slowed rhythms — Glamping removes the rush

  • Nature immersion — Time near water and nature reduces cortisol levels

  • Intentional simplicity — With fewer disruptions, your nervous system has space to recover.

  • Presence over productivity — The pace invites you to be, not do.

I found that this trip to Rottnest and glamping in such a beautiful natural environment truely allows restoration to happen organically. And very quickly too. It’s amazing how quickly this environment calms your senses and really allows you to relax.

Families, Couples & Solo Travellers

Beachside glamping works for all types of travellers:

  • Families find balance in shared discovery.

  • Couples reconnect under open skies.

  • Solo travellers rediscover themselves in quiet moments.

Glamping here offers space for reading, laughter , cycling and swimming. Watching the sunset from the beach, it naturally leads to an early night, a fabulous nights sleep and waking up feeling fabulous.

The Modern Wellness Prescription

Wellness used to be framed as a spa treatment or fitness routine. Today, we understand that true wellbeing comes from rhythm, rest, connection and presence.

This beachside glamping on Rottnest created an easy pace in a natural setting - the ideal way to press pause on life while you relax and enjoy all the benefits of being surrounded in nature.
