Ask someone what their personal style is, and I am sure at least a quarter of the female population will simply say “Jeans and a nice top!”. After all, it is the ultimate chic outfit that is both comfortable and practical. I decided to play on this when creating my business “The Fable”, as my work uniform would always incorporate a silk shirt. After all, they really are the perfect desk to dinner piece. You can dress it up or down, it can look corporate or chic.

I especially love a silk fabric, as it is breathable in summer, and layers well in winter.

Here are some tips on how to take your outfit from desk to dinner while incorporating a silk shirt:

Colour choice:

As we live in a modern, more vibrant society women can get away with bold colours in the workplace, especially on Fridays! If you are looking to take your outfit from desk to dinner, opting for a fun, vibrant colour silk shirt with a pair of jeans or trousers will allow your outfit to shine during the day and offer some fun at night!

Accessorise:

Whilst loud jewellery may not be suitable for your corporate hours, keeping a fun and bold piece of jewellery in your desk to pop on before you go to dinner can change the whole vibe of  your outfit. We suggest pairing your silk shirt with some detailed drop earrings that complement the colour and add some energy to the outfit, suitable for dinner and drinks!

Buttons:

A button down silk shirt is brilliant, as with the addition or subtraction of a few buttons,  you can create several different looks. During the day at your desk, having the buttons done up to the top will offer a corporate, responsible outfit option. Into the evening, unbuttoning some of the top buttons will change your outfit into a fun, relaxed style in an instant! At a daytime party, you can even tie the ends of our shirt to give you the knot look too.

Shoes:

It’s all in the shoe! Our shoes can make or break an outfit and a great way to transform your daytime outfit into a night-time outfit is changing up your footwear. Opting for a work appropriate closed in flat shoe or heel is perfect for a desk job and swapping them out later for a boot or stiletto can instantly change the look and feel of your outfit!

As we know, a silk shirt should be a staple in every ladies wardrobe. Offering potential for daywear and nighttime, the fabric is suitable for wear all year around and the style offers both a responsible, corporate option as well as a relaxed, fun look too.
