8 tips to maintain momentum in your Small Business

When your business is doing really well, it’s important to keep the momentum going. I coach many clients in this stage.

In some cases the Business already has great momentum and in other cases, the moment has been created through working together.

Now it’s super important to keep all that success going!!

It’s not uncommon for businesses to do really well, then the success begin to fade. This can be a result of inexperience, being too busy to focus on the right areas, or being exhausted from everything going on. Your team and processes also have a lot to do with this too.

Below are 8 ways to avoid losing momentum, so you can continue with the success you’ve already created:

1. Focus on helping customers

Businesses should be geared to satisfy your customers. There is no need to overcomplicate the process as many businesses do. Keep it simple, keep it memorable and make sure your customers are enjoying shopping / doing business with you.

2. Listen to feedback

Always listen to your customers, as they will often guide your business in the direction it needs to go.

Community is key, and listening to your community and buyer feedback will help you adjust your business. Also listen to any silence and lost leads - this too will help determine what to do next.

3. Ensure you have a motivated team

Your team is absolutely everything. Nurture them, help them feel positive and reward when things are going well.

4. Celebrate your wins as they occur

This is something that is often forgotten in amongst the craziness of business. Recognise success and enjoy the feeling. Celebrate and reflect!

5. Update your digital presence

This year has been a very big year for businesses updating their digital presence. Our digital studio, Sticky Studio has been extremely busy doing just this.

I have just updated Relauncher’s digital presence too, giving the website and branding a new look and feel.

Remember to also look at the user experience & navigation too. Very important given most businesses need an up-to-date digital presence at all times. This isn’t a set and forget area of the business. It continually needs adjusting and refreshing depending on where your business is at.

6. Selfcare

Oh how many people are near burnout when things are doing well. Need I say more?!

Please make sure you take care of yourself and set time aside on a very regular basis to look after your physical and mental health. This needs to be a top priority to continue working at the pace you are.

7. Reevaluate your goals often

Again, when things are going well, we still need to check in.

Setting goals for your business means you are clear on what the business needs to achieve. Knowing what you’re working towards and how you can get there faster keeps you moving in the right direction.

8. Address problems

Experiencing problems is inevitable. My motto is to always address issues, as they don’t go away by themselves. Clear concise communication, solutions focused and addressing issues quickly will stand you in good stead.

It can be tough to keep momentum continuing. It’s natural for there to be peaks and troughs in Business. Having these tips to help you maintain your momentum is a great way to continue on your journey.
